She encourages her students to set personal goals while simultaneously embracing their current selves. Aubrey incorporates a strong focus on breath and body awareness. She encourages students to connect their breath with movement, promoting mindfulness and a deeper understanding of their bodies. This focus on breath, paired with accessible modifications, ensures that all students can participate fully, regardless of their individual challenges or limitations.

Gretchen Herring, Co-Owner of The Primal Flow, Lead Trainer, 200 E-RYT, YACEP

Gretchen Herring hails from the mountains of Pennsylvania, and has settled in Northern Virginia with her family. She is a Primal Flow Master Trainer, a 200 E-RYT, and created a 200hr RYT program through Yoga Alliance. Her mantra of “finding comfort in the uncomfortable” is the primary focus of all her teachings, and her biggest goal is to help all students find their strength and peace within themselves.

OUR Approach

The Primal Flow fuses functional and primal movement sequencing into a vinyasa structure grounded in anatomical alignment and proper cueing. This powerful class structure includes an intentional balancing of masculine and feminine energetic principles as well as the elemental energies that exist within us and around us.
